Swim15

We are fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK.

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity and we're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.

We are diving into Swim15 this August and raising money to help save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.

As many of you will know we lost our daughter Lucy to this illness.

This will be a real challenge for us both as we haven’t swam far for years, also we are both in our 70’s and not as fit as we were. Hopefully our combined distance will hit the 15K

The money we raise will help to provide support and information to patients and their families, fund and support research into bowel cancer and support campaigns for early diagnosis and best treatment and care for all.

Bowel cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer with more than 16,500 people dying annually of a disease that is preventable, treatable and curable.

We swam remembering the two daughters lost to cancer

Thanks everyone for your support

Almost there

Thursday 5th Sep
So today we managed to swim another 3,150 metres, that only leaves 1,050 to go. Which we should manage in a half hour swim in the sea.
Cannot believe we have almost made it
So pleased

Getting better each swim

Tuesday 3rd Sep
Really good swim today. 2,950 metres swam. That means only 4,200 left to swim.
Hope to finish in two more swims

Over Halfway!

Tuesday 27th Aug
At last we are really making progress. Over half way, so so grateful to the couple allowing us to use their pool.
What a delight swimming in the sunshine bird watching, swallows and kestrel today.
It has been hard work but each swim we are doing a better distance

Making progress

Thursday 22nd Aug
Today we managed to knock another 2500 metres off our target.
Only 9850metres to go
Our motto is Just Keep Swimming

Making progress

Monday 19th Aug
Today we used a friend’s salt water pool.
The sun was shining we watched swallows buzzards and swallows as we swam.
2000 metres swam
Only 12350 to go

At last we are off

Tuesday 13th Aug
After two attempts to find a pool open for lane swimming we managed 26 lengths. Only 574 to go 🤔😱
Wonder if we set ourselves too much of a challenge.
We shall see it must get easier

Still recovering

Monday 5th Aug
Had hoped to begin our swim today. Sadly still struggling to get the energy levels back to normal following COVID. Really hope to begin by the end of the week

Late Start

Wednesday 31st Jul
We have had to postpone our start of this challenge as Sue is recovering from Covid.
WE WILL SWIM THE DISTANCE EVEN IF IT TAKES LONGER THAN INITIALLY INTENDED

Nearly time to begin

Monday 29th Jul
We hope to have a small swim on Thursday. Sue is just about over a nasty covid bout. Hope to at least get into a pool and do a couple of lengths
