I'm fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK

My Granda was diagnosed with bowel cancer last July and managed to overcome it with the help of the nurses and doctors that treated him.

My Mum on the other hand was not so lucky and was diagnosed in December 2023, she passed away in January this year leaving a big hole in all of our lives so I'd like to give back.

Now those that know me will know I'm the least active person going and the last time I did any actual swimming that wasn't splashing about in a pool was 12 years ago! So in the name if charity I'm fishing out my goggles and determined to swim 15km by the end of the 31st of August and hope you'll all help me in raising money for those that need it!

Due to tooth removals and illness I haven't been able to swim, back to it now though. Only 2 kilometres left to do!

Swim from today despite having sinusitis and feeling like absolute bumholes 1km added so 11.8km in total

Late update from Saturday

Tuesday 27th Aug
1.275km done taking the total up to 10.8km, this was pre having my wisdom teeth ripped out, hence the late update!

Another 1 km added 9.5 done now, not much left to go! Another week and a bit left

Tuesday 20th Aug
Another day, another 50 lengths! Making all the missed days back up now! 8.5km done, 7.5km to go 😊

Day 19

Monday 19th Aug
After a short break as it turned out I needed longer to recover from mountain climbing ⛰️ 50 lengths done, so 7.25km all in all 😊

A lovely day for a swim!

Thursday 15th Aug
Playing catch-up after a couple of days off to climb Snowdon over my rest days! 50 lengths today, so another 1.25km swam! Awaiting the delivery of a new fitbit as it turns out they can't handle seven hours in the rain!

Sunday 11th Aug
30 lengths done before a busy 12 hour nightshift last night! The arrival of my new fitbit this morning means that I can record on my phone again!

Thursday 8th Aug
Day 8 and 4km done! I won't lie I'm more impressed that I actually woke up to get here this morning! I am waiting for the arrival of a new watch though, hopefully not too long

End of Day 6

Tuesday 6th Aug
The end of day 6 and another 1km swam! Ready for tomorrow. Although my watch has now broken, apparently it wasn't all that waterproof!

Day 2 as I screwed up on Day 1

Friday 2nd Aug
46 lengths of a 25m pool done! It was meant to start yesterday and as chaotic as I am, I got to the leisure centre, paid my fare in and as I was getting changed realised I'd only bought the top half of my tankini! Never fear I have made it up today, although I was rather disorientated getting out of the pool and nearly fell over! 😂
