I'm fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK

This has been created in memory of Laura Barlow.
This has come as a big shock to all her family and friend’s as it was only a matter of weeks after being diagnosed with cancer, it spread rapidly making it unable to control even for a strong women like Laura and took her too soon from us all.

Laura initially started to feel unwell before the new year where she started to develop stomach pains and after visiting the G.P for a diagnosis she was told that she had endometriosis and she was prescribed medication. The medication was none helpful and Laura again visited the hospital on numerous of occasions, to try and resolve what was causing her immense pain. Doctors suggested that it may be gallbladder and even asked her to change her diet. Laura did everything she could even by changing her intake of food to contain gluten but again nothing seemed to work and the pain continued.

The pain affected her daily and prevented her from enjoying them special moments with family. Laura was committed in finding out the issue and asked for tests which were eventually conducted by the hospital.
After weeks of waiting, the news that everyone dread to hear was given to Laura! She was told that she has Cancer.

Laura was broken but she never gave up and wanted to fight it. She asked for treatment and was willing to do what it took to get cured to be there for her three babies.

On the 2nd of February 2024, Laura was told that the cancer was in her bowl and covered 95% of her liver. She was told her cancer was not curable.

Laura left the hospital on he 2nd February 2024, and took her family on a small holiday to centre parks where she spent her last moments creating special memories with her husband and three children.

It was then on the 5th of February 2024, she laid in the arms of her loving husband Mike and took her last breath peacefully at home in her bed.

Laura was only 33 years old and she has left behind Three beautiful children Bella-Mia 9 yrs, Summer Skye 2 yrs and Bonnie Rae 1year old and her loving husband Mike Barlow. She also leaves behind her sister, brother, father & nieces and beloved friends.

Everyone who knew Laura will agree that she was the most caring and beautiful human who everyone loved to be around and did her upmost is supporting her family.

Laura has the most contagious laugh and brightens up everyone’s day. I can honestly say that Laura has an impact on everyone’s lives which will make a dent forever.

Laura Barlow, you will be missed by all and until we meet again.

I’m diving into Swim15 this August and raising money to help save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. The money I raise will help to provide support and information to patients and their families, fund and support research into bowel cancer and support campaigns for early diagnosis and best treatment and care for all.

Bowel cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer with more than 16,500 people dying annually of a disease that is preventable, treatable and curable.
