Everest Base Camp Trek April 2024 - I'm fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK
I am walking to Everest Base Camp in April 2024. A challenging trek to the most iconic, infamous and inspirational mountain in the world.
Along with my good friend Rupert Kenyon, we will be walking to Kala Pathar (5550m) just above Everest Base Camp.
Throughout this trek we will ascend a total 9480m due to the ups and downs over the journey. All this will be done at significant altitude over 12 days. This is equivalent to climbing the UK’s mount Snowdon on a daily basis over the period, just with less thinner air, less trains and the background hum of choppers passing overhead taking down the unfortunate few!
I have chosen this charity as we have lost some splendid gentlemen in our family to Bowel Cancer including my dear father Graham Hillier at a very early age and more recently the special Jimmy Honour.
In both his lifetime and the impact of his early passing, my father has always encouraged me to enjoy life, live positively and seize every opportunity - this trek will be an experience and challenge.
Bowel cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer with more than 16,500 people dying annually.
Let’s hope these few steps of mine can raise funds to support this very preventable, treatable and curable disease.
I have seen first hand how friends have been treated and recovered if identified early enough. Lets raise funds to support this cause.
