I'm fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK
I was diagnosed with stage 3 bowel cancer early in 2024. I had an emergency operation to remove part of my large intestine in January when a large tumour was found. I started chemotherapy in March and finished around September. It was a gruelling year but I made it through with the amazing support of family, friends and work. Glad to say I am fully fit and back to myself now.
I’m taking part in ActiveApril for Bowel Cancer UK to help save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer and for myself as a mark of how far I have come in the last year. I feel so lucky to be able to do this, without the NHS and the work of charities such as Bowel Cancer UK things could have been so different.
My plan is to do 30 minutes active exercise a day, can’t guarantee what, as some days are busier than others, but I will keep a record of everything I do, even if one day it just includes walking to school and back. I’m obviously hoping to do more than that though!
