My activity
I'm fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK
I’m taking part in ActiveApril for Bowel Cancer UK and raising money to help save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.
Last May on the 31st of May I had a colonoscopy following a positive FIT test , the consultant said after the test .. you have cancer ! My world fell apart at that point !
I had been going to the GP for 9months with blood in my poo not all the time , no other symptoms . My GP treated me for an internal pile and then IBS .. I was 64 and felt blood in my poo for my age and being female was a good reason to put me on the 2 week cancer pathway but no she wouldn’t do it …
I was diagnosed with an anal cancer tumour squamous cell and my treatment plan was chemoradiation for 51/2 weeks !
It was gruelling but I stayed positive and with the support of my family and friends got through it ..
On December 6th I got to hear the words it’s good news , the cancer has gone and just last week at my 6 month mark my mri showed all clear … so I carry on with my life trying to stay fit … I go to Boot camp and do shred / sculpt & burn classes it’s really tough but I try and go 3 times a week this was was when I was diagnosed I had a break during treatment and then restated after I got the all clear …
I aim to walk on the days inbetween my gym classes in April and raise some money whilst getting fitter !
The money I raise will help to provide support and information to patients and their families, fund and support research into bowel cancer and support campaigns for early diagnosis and best treatment and care for all.
I’m going to be getting active every day in April, please support me and donate today.
