I'm fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity and we're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.

I’m taking part in ActiveApril and raising money to help save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. The money I raise will help to provide support and information to patients and their families, fund and support research into bowel cancer and support campaigns for early diagnosis and best treatment and care for all.

Bowel cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer with more than 16,500 people dying annually of a disease that is preventable, treatable and curable.

It’s official!!

Today I heard those magic words … Your scan shows ‘NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE!’

After huge life changing surgery and 12 weeks of FolFox chemotherapy I am now cancer free 🎉🎉

Just 5 weeks of preventative Radiotherapy and chemotherapy tablets to go 💪🏻💪🏻

It's crazy to think how much me and my body has gone through since my diagnosis.

During the past 5 months I have been chronicling my experience.

My 'journey' isn't over yet, but fingers crossed we are nearing the finish line :)

My Story

Wednesday 27th Mar

Every 15 minutes someone is diagnosed with Bowel Cancer! On the 18th October, I became one of the statistics.

What was initially thought to be Kidney infection turned out to be a massive tumour in my colon that had spread.

In November, I had major surgery to remove a large section of my colon, a total hysterectomy and the installation of Winnie (my stoma).

Can you believe that since September 2023 I've had: 14 Blood tests, 10 oncology appointments, 18 Chemo days, 4 stoma appointments, 5 scans (MRI, CT and PET), 1 iron transfusion, 9 days as an inpatient and I'm just getting ready to start what is hopefully my final preventative Radiotherapy treatment in April.

Without fundraising none of the amazing treatment that I have had would be possible.
