My activity

I'm fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK

I’m taking part in ActiveApril for Bowel Cancer UK and raising money to help save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.  I have Stage 4 Bowel Cancer, thus disease is exploding in the young - we have to do something about it.

The money I raise will help to provide support and information to patients and their families, fund and support research into bowel cancer and support campaigns for early diagnosis and best treatment and care for all.

I’m going to be getting active every day in April, please support me and donate today.

I am still deciding what I'm going to do as I will still be undergoing chemotherapy in April but every movement and every step matters.  It will most likely to do 10k steps a day.

Please support me in this challenge.

My updates

Day 11

Friday 11th Apr
Ive been quiet as I hadn't been well after treatment.
However, I was really proud to cycle 12 minutes in 1 go on the 9th, despite my step count being low.
Yesterday I walked over 19k steps on a day trip to Whipsnade with my nephew.
Today I walked over 18k steps on a day trip to Great Yarmouth with my brother and nephew.
My poor cracked feet were taped up to keep the pain under control which worked really well.
Im so proud of how I'm doing.  Got to keep it up.

Day 4

Saturday 5th Apr
No activity today as I  had the usual experience after Monday chemo.  From lunchtime on Friday I start feeling awful. There are no words to describe it but I  am wiped out.
This meant I wasn't up to either the cycle or walking.
I will make it up when I'm feeling better.

Day 3 done

Thursday 3rd Apr
I had my chemo bottle removed today, which gives me more free movement.
I went for a lovely walk with my neighbour, Katie.  We walked to where I grew up which was a nice experience to share.  Did my 10k steps.
I also did my 12 minutes on the bike.  I was so pleased that I cycled two x5 minutes sessions, with a final 2 mins .

Day 2 done

Wednesday 2nd Apr
Back to work today (from home) so harder to get the steps in.
I cycled at lunch time, doing 7 minutes in today with 4 minutes in 1 go. I then walked up and down the road to add in a few steps.
Finished the 12 minutes after work on the bike and then a few more walks up the road.
Had church group tonight so did some steps around Viv's house to up my steps.  Didn't get to 10k, but 7697 is not bad.  I need to up my game tomorrow.
Massive plus point is that I made a new local friend who is also participating.  What a community.

Day 1 Done

Tuesday 1st Apr
So I've done day 1.  I was shattered from not sleeping last night due to the Chemo.
I managed to cycle 12 minutes, across 3 sessions.  The max I cycled was 3 minutes.  Im very proud of that achievement.
I also walked over 11k steps too, so doubly proud.
29 days to go.
I'm also the 4th highest fundraiser at the moment, I love everyone who have so much faith in me.

The night before...

Monday 31st Mar
So, I had cycle 6 of chemotherapy today.  It was a long day in the chemo suite, 9.30 until 5.
Feeling off colour and tired tonight so feeling a bit nervous about starting the challenge tomorrow.
I have decided on my challenge:
I've set my bike up to work statically in my garage.  I'm going to cycle 12 minutes every day in April. 12 minutes is significant as around 12 people in the UK are diagnosed with bowel cancer every MINUTE.
I also want to increase my step count to 10k, that is the number of people in the UK diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer at year - like me.
I am determined to do this.  Will have to take it carefully over the next couple of days but not only am I raising important funds but getting healthier and getting match fit for my much hoped for operation.
