I'm fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK

I’m taking part in ActiveApril for Bowel Cancer UK and raising money to help save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.

The money I raise will help to provide support and information to patients and their families, fund and support research into bowel cancer and support campaigns for early diagnosis and best treatment and care for all.

I’m going to be getting active every day in April, please support me and donate today.

My Inspiration

Friday 7th Mar

As many of you will know, I sadly lost my big brother in February 2025, just two weeks before his 38th birthday. He was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer, Christmas 2023. He underwent countless cycles of chemotherapy, surgery, was poked and prodded, fought off numerous infections; and did it all with minimal complaints. He made incredible progress in the first half of 2024, and we were given little glimmers of hope that he could beat this.

Unfortunately, the turn of 2025 brought with it the horrific blow that there were no options left in terms of treatment, and sadly we couldn’t have him in this life for too much longer. He went into hospital at New Year simply due to high blood pressure, but was never to return home, as things went from bad to worse, in the cruel way cancer does.

Cancer does not discriminate. Cancer does not care. It didn’t care that Andrew has a family. A wife. Two young children.

As Andrew said, ‘Trust your gut feeling, listen to your body and don’t let a healthcare professional tell you that it won’t be cancer because of your age. Cancer doesn’t care who you are, your age, your hopes, dreams, plans for the future – it can and will affect everyone at some point in their life’.

So, lets raise awareness. And let’s raise as much money as we can to help support more families, and hopefully one day put an end to cruel disease.
