My activity

I'm fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK

I’m taking part in ActiveApril for Bowel Cancer UK and raising money in memory of my son Peter, who was diagnosed at 30 and sadly died at 32.  Also, I'm hoping to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of Bowel  Cancer and encourage everyone to look at the Bowel Cancer UK website.

I’m going to be walking 71 miles in April and hopefully finding new routes to explore. Please support me and donate today.
The money I raise will help to provide support and information to patients and their families, fund and support research into bowel cancer and support campaigns for early diagnosis and best treatment and care for all.

My updates

April 30th

Thursday 1st May
The last night of my challenge. With today’s walk I have covered  122 miles and have really enjoyed the month. So many different walks and this year, across a small part of Europe!
The May tree is hoisted in the Black Forest for the start of May and it took a lot of Firemen to get it there. Quite different to  our Maypole.
Thank you all so much for your support.
So far the total is well over £400.00 and there’s more promised😉

Views

Saturday 26th Apr
Thought I should come clean! I didn't walk up  but took a ride on the longest funicular railway in Germany to the summit of Merkur Mountain.
There are spectacular views all around particularly of  Baden Baden!
I did walk thorough the woods later!

The train from France had been cancelled so I finally got my visit to Paris and decided to walk around as many sights as I could. 11 miles!
What a day, the queues around Notre Dame were huge- luckily I hadn't planned to visit.

Half way

Wednesday 16th Apr
Just over Half way through April and I've already done 55 miles! It's definitely got me back into walking daily and would like to think I'm a little bit fitter?
More wild flowers are appearing every few days and the trees have gained so many more leaves.
Thanks again for all your encouragement and sponsorship. Onward and upward!

Asda Awareness, Cardiff Leckwith

Monday 14th Apr
Not as many steps today but some really good conversations with shoppers in Asda raising awareness of  the symptoms of Bowel Cancer and encouraging up take of the Fit test

Rain!

Saturday 12th Apr
First rain of my Active April challenge-only a few drops,  but my garden definitely needs it. Cardiff Bay last night was just stunning with sun shining on every building and all the visitors enjoying their end of the week.
It's been a great week with a lot of variety-the Exeter Ship canal, Cardiff Bay and my local area in all covering another 24 miles. Phew!

Monday 7th Apr
First week almost completed-just today's walk to come. I've been so lucky to have a week of glorious weather and to be surrounded by such beautiful countryside.
I've walked 19miles so far and its been so good to have so many supportive comments! Thanks ! Fingers crossed for more lovely dry weather for us all.xx

Day 4

Friday 4th Apr
A lovely walk  today along the Sirhowy Valley n beautiful sunshine after the morning rain.
Very sad to see the burnt side of the mountain -so much wildlife lost.

Day One

Tuesday 1st Apr
What a fabulous walk for my first day of My Active April challenge. Nearly 6km through this beautiful forest and on to Castell Coch in brilliant sunshine. It really is a wonderful place to explore.
