I’m fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity and we're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.

I’m taking part in Walkies Together this September to raise funds and help save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. Please support me and my fundraising.

Bowel cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer with more than 16,500 people dying annually of a disease that is preventable, treatable and curable.

The funds I raise will help to provide support and information to patients and their families, fund and support research into bowel cancer and support campaigns for early diagnosis and best treatment and care for all.

Day 2 - 3rd September 2024

Tuesday 3rd Sep
Day 2 of Jewels walk for Bowel Cancer. We didn't go as far today as Jewel had spent the day at doggy day care, which she hasn't for months and had exhausted herself there.

She managed 2.5 miles which is an achievement for how shattered she is 😂

Day 1 - Walk 1

Sunday 1st Sep
We have got off to a roaring start and covered 3.67 miles today.

Around half way through our walk the heavens opened and we were drenched!

Jewel was less than impressed with the rain and kept trying to pull me to various passing cars hoping they would give her a lift home 😂

Thankfully after stropping for a while she decided she could continue the walk, and decided it was all worth it in the end when she was rewarded with a giant biscuit

What is Colorectal Cancer?

Thursday 22nd Aug
What is colorectal cancer?

Colorectal cancer is the third most diagnosed type of cancer in men and women and is the second leading overall cause of cancer deaths.

It is 35%-40% more common in men than in women.

More than 41,500 people are diagnosed with colorectal cancer in the UK every year, that's roughly 1 person every 15 minutes.

16,000 people die every year from this cancer.

Yet bowel cancer is Preventable, Treatable and Curable.

9 out of 10 people diagnosed will survive if it is caught early enough.

So what are the symptoms?

Bleeding from your bottom
Blood in your stool
A change on how often you go to the toilet, including diarrhoea and constipation.
Losing weight without trying
Feeling more tired and lethargic than normal
A pain or lump in your tummy

If you notice any of these signs you should make an appointment with your GP.

It's better to be safe than sorry
