I’m fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK
Im completing this fundraising challenge in memory of my amazing Mum Sheila Adamson, who sadly passed from undetected advanced metastatic bowel cancer on the 18th September 2023.
My mum was admitted to hospital on August 23rd with what she was suspected was a kidney infection. It turned out that she had unknowingly been being ravaged by Bowel Cancer for what the consultants believed to be around 18months. At this point her illness was terminal and she spent her remaining few weeks in hospital receiving pain management.
Because of Bowel Cancer my Dad suddenly lost his wife of 40 years, my Aunts Uncles lost their sister, myself and my siblings and the one that truly breaks my heart her 6 grandkids lost the most doting Nanny and they just don’t understand why they can’t see her or talk to her.
What happened to my Mum and subsequently us as a family was nothing short of horrific, when researched Bowel Cancer and learned the symptoms the hindsight was real, the signs were all there. We just didn’t know them.
Hopefully with more funding Bowel Cancer UK can make a difference. If we were more aware maybe things could have been different! So I’m really hoping to raise awareness in the hopes this disease destroys less families!
