I’m fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK

I am taking part in the Walkies Together challenge for Bowel Cancer UK this September to raise funds and help save and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. 

For those who may not know my amazing dad, John, has been fighting his battle with Bowel Cancer since 2021. He is just about to undergo his third round of chemotherapy, as so commonly found in bowel cancer, it has metastasised to his liver. So far, my dad has had 2 major surgeries and another still to go fairly imminently. In amongst all this chaos, he has been a rock to us all and we are so grateful for all who have supported him this far. This is a cause so close to our whole families hearts as we, much like the families of 43,000 other people in the UK have been directly impacted by bowel cancer. 

The funds Ralph and I hope to raise will help to provide support and information to patients and their families, fund and support research into bowel cancer and support campaigns for early diagnosis and best treatment for all. 

Bowel cancer is the UK’s 4th most common cancer and significant numbers of people are dying annually of a disease that is preventable, treatable and curable. I would be remiss in my role as a nurse working in cancer screening not to mention… DO YOUR SCREENINGS! It can and will save your life.
