I’m fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK

I’m taking part in Walkies Together this September to raise funds as part of #TeamBowelCancerUK TCS 2025 London Marathon. Please support me and my fundraising.

This means so much to me and my family. I want to give something back for all the help and support we’ve had over the last 12 months.

In August last year my husband, Chris, aged 41, went for a colonoscopy after experiencing bleeding when he went to the toilet. He was otherwise completely well and so it was a huge shock to be told that day that he had bowel cancer.

Things moved very quickly and soon Chris was in surgery for a bowel resection. 6 months of adjuvant chemo followed for what turned out to be stage 3 bowel cancer.

Chris was amazing throughout. I’m so incredibly proud of how he dealt with it all. He’s doing well, recovering from chemo and figuring out how to live with uncertainty.

We owe a huge amount to BowelCancerUK and others like them for all the work they do in raising awareness and helping people cope with diagnosis. Without knowing the symptoms and importance of getting things checked, it could have been so much worse for us.
