For Mum and Dad ❤️

2023 was a relatively happy year for most people in the world, we were free of Covid and things were starting to get back to the way we were used to. That was for most people, apart from me and my family. I lost both my mum and dad last year to bowel cancer, they passed 6 months of each other from the same disease.

Dad’s story; Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in 2020 just before the major lockdown of Covid. His prognosis wasn’t a very good one and we were told to just see how much time we could have with him. But like the true warrior he was! He had 24 rounds of chemotherapy, he fought off Covid, he fought off all the other infections and he even lived past his 1 year life expectancy by 3 years! Though unfortunately dad lost his battle on August 17th 2023. My dad was determined to not let this horrible disease beat him and he stayed true to his word, yes he had  his bad days but he still managed to make us laugh and smile. He was so brave and courageous ❤️

Mums story; Mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer much later than dad, she was experiencing discomfort in August 2022 and was diagnosed with bowel cancer in October 2022. Mum was again so brave and she was determined like dad to not let this horrible disease win. She chose not to have any treatment though the treatment options weren’t many as her cancer was too far gone. But she wanted to live her life and spend it with her friends and family. Mums wish was to go into the Severn hospice and it was granted not long after her diagnosis in October, the nurses and staff at the hospice were literal angels and looked after mum and us as a family so well. Mum again still made us laugh and smile and we were able to make special memories with her until she lost her battle on 27th January 2023.

Please donate anything you can, because like my parents I am determined to not let cancer  win ❤️
